Free Hearing Screening

A simple yet effective measure to assess whether your hearing is normal or not. An initial free hearing screening check using a handheld device that presents a number of
pre-selected tones into each ear. This device will measure how sensitive your hearing is to some of the sound frequencies that are present in normal speech. This is a quick and simple way to assess whether any further investigation or testing is required.

The screening check is totally free with no obligation and will take about 10 to 15 minutes.

Full Hearing Consultation

A thorough hearing assessment uses a battery of tests to assess the hearing, identify any problems and start to address any hearing issues.

All of our hearing health experts are registered in the UK with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or the Council for Professions Complimentary to Medicine (CPCM) in Malta. They are all members of the British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists (BSHAA) and the British Academy of Audiology (BAA)

A full hearing consultation with one of our hearing experts will include a physical examination of your ears together with a full range of audiometric tests. These may include audiometry and speech-in-noise testing. Our hearing expert will go through the results of the tests with you and, if necessary, make any onward referral for any health issues identified. They will also discuss their findings with you and, if appropriate, make any recommendations which may include a hearing aid suitability assessment.

A full hearing assessment with one of our hearing experts takes one and a half hours and many patients find it beneficial to have a loved one with them as one of the tests we often use utilises a familiar voice.

Wax removal

Ear wax can be very beneficial, but if there is excessive wax blocking the ear canal, this can lead to temporary hearing loss or tinnitus.

Our Hearing health care professionals use the very latest technology to remove excessive ear wax via micro-suction. This means that the wax is ‘sucked’ out of the ear canal using a low-pressure suction delivered into the ear by a sterilised, single-use tube.

We use high magnification, lighted scopes to ensure that we can see deep into the ear canal during the procedure so that we can make it as quick and comfortable for you as possible.

We usually recommend the use of olive oil-based softeners prior to the procedure to ensure that the process is comfortable for you. There are some patients for whom this would not be appropriate so please check with us first.

Tinnitus Assessment

65 million people in the EU alone suffer from tinnitus, are you one of them?

Although there is no cure for tinnitus that does not mean that you just have to suffer from its effects. There are a number of things that can be done to help people ‘manage’ their tinnitus. As corporate members of the British Tinnitus association, we are proud to support their
research and also adhere to the best practice principles that the BTA advocate.

There is growing research that shows that people who experience chronic tinnitus are also subject to some degree of hearing loss. Therefore, the first step should always be a
thorough hearing assessment together with an examination of the impact of this unwanted sound on the quality of your life.

A tinnitus assessment with one of our hearing health experts will take about an hour and a half. In order to benefit from the assessment fully, we will usually ask you to complete some questionnaires prior to the appointment.
