The Sounds of Tinnitus

Tinnitus is the perception of noise that doesn’t have an external source, often described as “ringing in the ears.” Because it is a phantom sound, it can be experienced in various ways and can range from a quiet background hum to a loud, distracting roar.

Symptoms of tinnitus. Ringing-in-the-ears or a fullness-of-the-head sensation are the most common symptoms of tinnitus. While ringing is the most common experience, the noise can also sound like a buzzing, hissing or whizzing sound. It can range from a low pitch to a high pitch and may be soft or loud at times.

Tinnitus Consultations

Whilst there is as yet no known cure for tinnitus, there are still many things that can be done to help manage the effects of the noise. Our tinnitus consultation uses the British Tinnitus Associations Options for Tinnitus Care and is designed to see which of these may be of benefit to you.

Microsuction Ear Wax Removal

We use the latest techniques combined with the most modern technology to safely and cleanly remove any excess ear wax from your ears allowing sound to pass through more efficiently and remove that ‘blocked and muffled ‘ sensation.

Hear Again Rabat is the leading professional specialist hearing care clinic in Malta dedicated to improving hearing health through advanced diagnostics, personalised treatment, and ongoing support.

Based in Rabat, we provide a welcoming, professional environment where patients can receive comprehensive hearing assessments using modern audiological equipment, helping to identify hearing loss early and accurately. Our approach focuses on tailored solutions designed around each individual’s lifestyle and hearing needs.

One of the core services is the fitting and supply of high-quality hearing aids from leading global manufacturers. These devices are carefully selected and programmed to suit each patient’s level of hearing loss, ensuring clear sound, improved speech understanding, and discreet, comfortable wear. The clinic also offers aftercare, adjustments, repairs, and ongoing support, so patients can continue to get the best performance from their hearing aids over time.

Hear Again Rabat also provides specialist tinnitus consultations, offering guidance and management strategies for people experiencing ringing, buzzing, or other phantom ear noises. While there is currently no cure for tinnitus, our audiologists use evidence-based techniques such as sound therapy and hearing rehabilitation—often alongside hearing aids—to reduce the perception of tinnitus and make it easier to live with day to day.
